News from Ellie

Hello! I'm happy to inform you that I'm a "Big Sister in Training"! My little baby brother or sister will arrive sometime in early December. I cannot wait to have someone else to play with besides mommy and daddy, those cats want nothing to do with me :)
My mommy made me this new shirt to share, but I was so excited I would not sit still for the picture! I'm a bit of a wild child :)

Not a Peep!

At Ellie's doctor appointment last week, the Dr. seemed a bit concerned by how small she is (not that I'm the biggest mommy on the block). She wanted to get a finger prick and urine sample on Ellie to make sure all of her levels were spot on. Specifically looking at iron levels. I wasn't too enthused by these suggestions, but since the Dr. was concerned I thought that we would go ahead with the tests...a finger prick won't do much damage. On Wednesday I took off work to bring her in to the lab to have the tests done. When I got there they inform me that they will be drawing blood...not just a finger prick. Eeeekkk I found myself very nervous, I actually thought that I was going to cry. We went into the room and I tell the lab tech, who was so nice, that "I'm feeling very nervous about this". She reassures me that everything will be alright tells another lab tech where to stand continues to talk to me, pricks Ellie draws blood, and then I hear her say "all done". "What!" She didn't even cry...not a peep came out of my brave little girl! The lab tech searched for some special pink wrap just for Ellie and covered her owie. The urine sample was another ordeal altogether. They gave me this little bag to stick on under her diaper. It is supposed to collect the urine. Well, after 4 tries I gave up! She would go to the bathroom and the bag would not hold any of it. I'm really not very concerned about her being small considering that I was always small as a baby, so I say pish posh on the urine sample :)
Here are some pictures of my brave little girl!

Missing In Action

Jeremy has been gone now for 7 days...he will be home on Sunday. Ellie and I missed him dearly! I was very sad that he was going to be gone so long, but luckily I have great friends in Cedar Rapids to cheer me up!
Ellie and I kept extremely busy while Jerm was gone, made the time go by a lot faster.
Here is how are week panned out:
Saturday: Coral Ridge mall with Fanaye
Sunday: Church and Lunch with Julie and Logan
Monday: Girls City Track Meet
Tuesday: Megan came to eat dinner and spend time with us at home
Wednesday: Boys City Track Meet
Thursday: Went for a long walk in Center Point
Friday: My mom and dad came to spend time with us
Saturday: Dubuque to visit family (cousins are in town)
Sunday: Church and then he will be home!!!! Finally!!!
It was very difficult being a single parent for so long (10 days). I'm so used to having an extra set of hands around. Being pregnant I'm also very sick in the morning, so I would put Ellie in front of the bathroom and pray she didn't go too far :) Typically once I put Ellie down for be I'm able to unwind and relax. But now, without Jeremy around I then have to go outside let the dogs run and feed them. Then I would come back in clean up after supper, do dishes, pick up toys etc. With two people around we are able to get this stuff done together. While I was dragging the stinky garbage out to the curb this morning I was really missing Jeremy :) I have no clue how single parents do it!

10 month stats and Pink Eye!

Ellie went in for a routine doctor appointment on Friday. She had a bad cold and it looked as if it was in her eyes as well. Immediately when Nurse Karen saw Ellie she said, "oh my, it looks as if she has pink eye". Which freaked me out a bit considering that in the movie "Knocked Up", all the druggie boys get pink eye from poop on their pillows...well Doctor Lisa assured me that Ellie got it from her cold...she said it happens all the time to little ones. The final verdict from Dr. Lisa was sinus infection and pink eye in both eyes! Ellie did not act bothered at all from her sinus infection or pink eye. She was still as happy as a clam of course all smiles and laughs :)
10 month stats:
Weight: 16 pounds 5 ounces- 10th percentile
Height: 27 inches- 25th percentile
We love our doctor and her nurse but, it is a huge pain in the rear to get out of the Dr. office. All the secretaries (5 old women) want to hold and talk to Ellie...and of course she puts on a show for them.

At 10 months Ellie is so much fun! Her personality is coming out and she is definitely a spit fire. Now that the weather is nice she loves standing at the window and screaming at the top of her lungs! She has this new thing that she says over and over and it sounds like ahhh shit, although we hope it is not. She says da da, oh o, and makes almost every other letter sound but mmmmmm!!! So no ma ma yet! She waves good bye, raises her arms when you ask her “how big is Ellie” , claps when she hears anyone else clap, gives high fives, eats like a pig and wants anything that we are currently eating and smiles all the time….just a little update!
Here are some pics of Ellie at her new post, the window:
Cheese (she smiles for the camera now :)
